Next Local Event – Cordeaux Heights – CANCELLED

DUE TO THE INCLEMENT WEATHER THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED. IT WILL NOW BE HELD AS PART OF THE ILLAWARRA MAP RUN SERIES IN FEBRUARY 2023.

Our next event will be on Saturday 8th October. It will be a score event in the Cordeaux Heights area of Wollongong starting from Sheargold Park on Derribong Drive. Newcomers are welcome.

You will have the option of a 45 or 60 minute time period to collect as many of the 30 controls on the course as you can. The controls are valued at 10, 20 or 30 points. You get to choose how many and which controls you can visit in the time period. You can compete as an individual, a family or a group of friends. Beware of finishing late – 10 points will be deducted from your score for every minute or part minute that you go over time.

There is also a children’ s course of up to 2Km in length. Road crossings required: Children need to be accompanied by an adult.

Start time is 2-3 pm. Come early so you have plenty of time to plan your course before you start.

Entries are now open on Eventor.

Next local event: North Cronulla

Our next local event will be next Saturday 6 August at North Cronulla. Its always a nice map to run on with something for everyone – sand dunes, beach, coastal reserves and nice new real-estate to admire. Don Lucas Reserve is a fantastic place to start – plenty of space, great amenities and a big playground and bike paths to keep the younger members of the family entertained.

Lets cross all our collective fingers for some sunshine!

Entries are open now on Eventor.

Club Training Day

The club will be holding a bush orienteering training day for IKO members in the Belanglo State Forest on Saturday 23 July from 11am to 3pm. This will be an excellent opportunity for those wanting to transition from local street events to orienteering in the forest. The lessons learned can be put into practice the following day at the Highlands Forest Series event #4.

Anyone wanting to attend should register their interest by email to ikorienteers@gmail.com by  Sunday 10th July.  There is no cost to members.

For those competing and/or volunteering at the Highland’s Forest event the next day there is still some accommodation available at the Belanglo Hut.  So why not stay over and join the other IKO members for the evening. Email ikorienteers@gmail.com if you want to book a bed.
