Xmas 5 – Day Carnival 2024

This years the NSW Xmas 5-Days carnival is in Sydney from 26 to 31 December. There will be some stunning scenery and locations and organisers have come up with an interesting mix of course formats to keep participants entertained. Days 1 and 4 starts are from 4.30pm, Days 2,3 & 5 start at 8am. With winning times of between 25 to 45 minutes for courses there will be plenty of time for entrants to have a run before enjoying the many sights and activities that Sydney has to offer. Whilst pre-entries for the full 5 days have closed people can enter on the day for all 5 events. Anyone intending to enter on the day should report to the registration tent as soon as they arrive at the event, and no later than 30 minutes after the first start. Each club will decide which courses are on offer for EOD, along with the entry fees.


Ho Ho Ho! Our Christmas event is here!

Come along for our last event of the year at Kiama Downs next Saturday 14 December. Bring some festive cheer, there will be lucky door prizes, and silly headwear is encouraged!

Eventor Australia – Event information: IKO Xmas event – Kiama Downs

Starts from 3pm to 4pm at Bombo Hill Reserve, Riverside Drive Kiama Downs. BYO swimmers if you fancy a dip at Bombo Beach afterwards. And BYO food and drinks for the post-event BBQ and/or a salad or dessert to share. See you there!

Second last RBOS event for 2024 – Little Bay Sunday 1 December

The annual River Bay Orienteering Series (RBOS) is winding up with RBOS #6 being organized by IKO at Little Bay this coming Sunday. Starts are from 4pm to 5pm. Long (6.7Km), Medium (4.6KM) and Short (2.2Km) line courses will be available as well as a score event of 20 controls in 30minutes. Entries close at midnight 30 November. Why not pack your togs and have a swim in the beautiful Little Bay beach after (or before) the event. Car pooling is recommended as parking is at a premium especially if the weather is fine.

The final RBOS event will be held on 8 December and is also on an IKO map – Bado-Berong Creek at Sans Souci.

Newcomers and beginners are very welcome at these events. Club members will be on hand to help you on your way. 

Note: The IKO Christmas event will be held on 14 December in the Kiama region. Starts are from 3-4pm followed by the club Xmas party. Put the date in your diary and check eventor or IKO Facebook page closer to the event for the exact location.

ILLAWARRA MAP RUNNING SPRING SERIES 2024

The Illawarra Map Running Spring Series 2024 starts on 19 October and runs to 9 November.

The events are held on Saturday mornings with starts from 10am to11am. See dates and locations below. At the end of the event there will the be a free sausage sizzle.  Novices and regular orienteers are all welcome to join in these fun events. Long (6Km), Medium (4Km) and Short (2KM) line courses will be offered and members will be around on the day to help any newcomers. Pre-entries via Eventor are encouraged (see links below) otherwise just turn up and enter on the day.

Events coming up: Kirrawee – Saturday 21 September and State League #9 Middle Distance Sunday 22 September

Come and try your hand at some bush orienteering in Kirrawee on Saturday afternoon 21 September. Starts are from 2- 3pm. You might be lucky enough to spot a waratah or two in the bush. For details see https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/Show/20723. Pre-entries via Eventor are encouraged.

Newcomers and beginners are welcome. Club members will be on hand to help you on your way. The first newcomer to enter on the day will receive a free entry.

If you are new to orienteering or have trouble reading the rock and want to brush up your bush orienteering skills we are conducting a training session on techniques for orienteering in the forest earlier in the afternoon. You can test your skills out the next day at the State League #9 at Kentlyn, near Campbeltown.
